April 14, 2011 Club D’Elf at (Le) Poison Rouge – VOA-TV Behnam Nateghi Reports

Celebrating their new album “Electric Moroccoland: So Below,” released on April 5, Boston-based global-music superband “Club D’Elf,” jammed on Sunday April 10, 2011 at New York's (Le) Poison Rouge with Moroccan Gnawa master Hassan Hakmoun, who, with his 1991 CD “Gift of Gnawa,” inspired the band 14 years ago to explore this music. VOA-TV's Behnam Nateghi interviews band leader and bass player Mike Rivard, pianist John Medeski and Brahim Frigbane, who provides Club D'Elf with complex Moroccan melodies and rhythms.
